No fine print you have to go looking for. Here's exactly how Intake, pricing, refunds, revisions, and your data work — for the Framework, the People Framework, and printed binders.
The short version: digital Playbooks and documents, configured to your business — not a phone call, and not a template with your name dropped in.
For the Framework: a set of digital Playbooks, one per department, written for your field and configured to your business during Intake. For the People Framework: hiring, onboarding, performance, and Handbook documents, built the same way.
Every Playbook also comes with its own Configuration Key — the exact questions we'd ask to tailor it further, if we were doing the work ourselves. Use it yourself, or bring it to Personnel Matters as paid consulting.
No. Every product in the Framework and the People Framework is self-serve — you check out online, answer a short set of questions, and Intake builds from your answers.
Intake still works the same way. If your business has 15 or more employees, operates in two or more locations, or you personally handle HR yourself, someone from Personnel Matters will also reach out directly — to make sure Intake actually fits a business your size, not just to check a box.
Digital Playbooks and the automated People Framework products (Hire Better, Hire & Onboard Better, The New Hire, Handled) are generated the moment you finish Intake — often within minutes.
Your Handbook, Handled and HR, Handled are reviewed by a consultant before they reach you, so those take longer: about 10 business days from a completed intake. You'll get everything through your own delivery page either way.
A personal page created for your order — not an email attachment you have to dig up later. Every document lives there, you can redownload the current version anytime, and it stays live for the life of your order and beyond, unless you ask us to remove it.
Your Handbook, Handled, HR, Handled, and Your Whole Business, Handled include one round of revisions, requested directly from your delivery page. Past that round, it's yours to edit — every Playbook and document comes as an editable file for exactly that reason. If you want ongoing changes beyond that first round, an optional Update Subscription lets you request revisions to any Playbook or document you've purchased, any time — see Pricing for details. Whatever you edit yourself, we'd still recommend having your own attorney review any compliance-sensitive changes before you rely on them. Or bring it to us as paid consulting.
Not really as an “upgrade.” Each People Framework product — Hire Better; Hire & Onboard Better; The New Hire, Handled; Your Handbook, Handled; HR, Handled; and Your Whole Business, Handled — is its own complete package, priced for what's in it. If you start with Hire Better and later want HR, Handled, you'd pay full price for HR, Handled, not the difference between the two. The better move is choosing the product that already fits where your business is, rather than planning to grow into a bigger one later. The Framework Playbooks work the same way: the Core Five and the Complete Framework are bundles, priced for the value of buying together. If you start with the Core Five and want the rest of the departments later, you'd add them a la carte at full per-Playbook price, which usually costs more in total than the Complete Framework would have upfront. If you already know you'll need every department, the bundle is the better buy from day one.
Digital Playbooks and the automated People Framework products are generated the moment you finish Intake, so there's no production window to cancel out of — they're final once delivered, the same way any instant digital download works.
Your Handbook, Handled, HR, Handled, and Your Whole Business, Handled are different: full refund if you ask before drafting starts, no refund once it has. We consider drafting started the moment your order moves into production — a first draft has been generated, or a consultant has begun reviewing it, whichever happens first.
To request a refund, contact us before drafting begins, and we'll confirm your order's status and process it right away.
Every binder is printed to order with your business name and logo, so once a print run has started it can't be resold to anyone else — printed binders are final sale. Your digital copy is yours regardless, so nothing is ever lost if you decide against the binder.
No. Every Playbook has a price and the package is the sum — no bundles, no discount math, no struck-through prices. Service Lines, printed binders, and the optional Update Subscription are the only add-ons, and each is optional and priced plainly wherever it's offered.
An optional add-on that lets you request revisions to any Playbook, document, or Handbook you've purchased, any time during your subscription term — not just the one round of revisions included with your original order. You can add it at checkout or later from your delivery page, and updates are requested the same way, through the "Request Revision" action.
$49.97/month, billed as a single annual payment of $599.64, or $69.97/month if you'd rather pay monthly ($839.64/year total either way). It's billed as an annual plan and renews automatically each year.
Yes, any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current annual term, and we don't provide a partial refund for the remaining months of an active term.
Every Handbook is built on a multi-state employment law compliance engine, so it reflects the rules that apply to where your employees actually work, regardless of how many states you operate in. It's also reviewed by a consultant before it reaches you.
No. Your Framework and your Handbook are built to reflect the rules that generally apply to your field and location, configured to what you tell us during Intake — not reviewed by an attorney against your specific situation. If you need that, talk to your own counsel, or bring it to Personnel Matters as consulting.
Tell us where during Intake. Our compliance engine applies the right rules per state your employees actually work in, so a multi-state business gets one Handbook that's still accurate everywhere it needs to be.
Your business details and the answers you give us during Intake — business name, industry, state, employee count, and whatever's relevant to the documents you're building. If you choose to record a voice memo instead of typing, we collect that too, along with the transcript made from it.
Voice memos are deleted automatically 30 days after transcription — once we have the text, there's no reason to keep the recording. Transcripts and intake answers are kept for the life of your order plus one year, so you can request a revision or a fresh copy without starting over. Final documents stay on your delivery page indefinitely, unless you ask us to remove them.
Everything connected to your order is encrypted, both in storage and while it's moving between our systems.
Yes. Ask, and we'll delete it — in line with the privacy standards that apply to you, regardless of where your business is located.
